The 2nd FTRA 2011 International Workshop on U-Healthcare Technologies and Services will be held in Jeju, Korea, December 12-15, 2011 (U-Healthcare 2011).
As the multi devices with sophisticated and advanced computing and networking capacities, which are now prevailed in the part of our lives, mobile internet device, smartphone, potable media player with wifi and various gadgets, we are seeking the possibilities of the novel types of healthcare by utilizing these devices not only in indoors, but in a wider range of places and times regardless of physical limitations. Ubiquitous environment, which is the open environment, senses and reasons user’s context and then provides optimum IT service. To provide user-centered autonomous service, which is not static, but dynamic, there exists need for change in paradigm. To this end, enhancement in the welfare for future requires the change of the current healthcare system. For daily care level, special kinds of methods and technologies that we can be applied into our daily life are imperative. In this point, this special issue would provide an excellent opportunity for researchers and industry representatives as well as decision makers to review and discuss the state-of-art and trends of u-Healthcare and related convergence between oriental medicine and modern medical science. We would like to send a particular welcome to those of you who might be new to the u-Healthcare area. This workshop would offer a wonderful opportunity to understand the problems and exchange ideas about various researches.
